Broken Relationships
Broken relationships are painful. Maybe you have been betrayed by a friend, or you were lied to by your spouse. Maybe you have a rebellious child or a critical parent. Or maybe you have hurt someone you love. Whatever the source of conflict, it is no doubt painful.
When we face conflict, we have two choices in our response. We can either resolve the situation by recognizing sin as the root of conflict and seeking reconciliation. Or we can ignore the problem and let it slowly corrode our soul. Neither choice is easy, but only reconciliation will lead to healing.
The pain from broken relationships can seem unbearable. But when we choose to ignore the pain or conflict, we prolong the suffering. Resentment and frustration build, leaving a door open for Satan to come in and build a stronghold. Unresolved conflict has the potential to destroy a relationship.
Confronting sin and restoring a relationship can be uncomfortable. But the anguish of working through the betrayal or misunderstanding will lead to peace and healing. Is there a broken relationship that is causing you pain? Have you tried to bury the problem instead of confronting it?
Prayer: Father, help me seek reconciliation in my broken relationships. Forgive me for trying to ignore the problem. Give me wisdom and courage to take the steps I know I need to take. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (Romans 12:18).
