Are There Modern Day Prophets? Q&A: Jan 16 w/ Pastor David Guzik
Welcome to the weekly Q&A with Pastor David Guzik, author of the Enduring Word Bible commentary. After our lead question, Pastor David takes questions gathered from the live chat - although today's program is pre-recorded, you can still add your questions to the chat for consideration in upcoming live Q&A's! This week, Pastor David's lead question comes from Jennifer via email, who asks: "Hi, Pastor Guzik, I am so grateful for your content. It is such a blessing. Thank you! I was listening to your YouTube videos on your arguments against Cessationism. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_QIfO0mxbX4LnZw5RxYLOpmuRwASu72j Can you clarify if you believe that there are prophets today? I think you mentioned that people are unable to correctly communicate God's word now. At what point did this become the case?" Is it ok for me to forgo Sunday service and maybe watch online service? Will it be counted as putting God above work? 21:05 I have a sister in Christ who has started practicing applied kinesiology. This has raised my discernment flag. The research I have done seems to confirm my discernment concerns. Before I speak to her about it I wanted to ask you your thoughts and if you had any advice or research material of your own about this. 23:33 As children of God we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Can people still walk in unforgiveness or hurt others without a conscience. Do they still go to heaven? 27:40 How can one distinguish Rhema and Logos without being diluted by the New Thought movement? 30:47 Are we under a curse if we don’t pay tithes? 34:10 What did the Bible say about tithe? as Born again Christian, is it a curse if I don't pay tithe? 34:53 As a result of God's judgment, the Israelites were told they would wander in the wilderness for 40 years. Numbers 21 v25 says that "Israel took all these cities, and Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all her villages." If the Israelites were living in these cities and villages, this does not seem to be the same as wandering in the wilderness. 38:16 Someone made the comment that if we do not share the gospel we are being selfish, and this is a sin. “Freely you receive, so freely give.” If we don't share the gospel, will we go to hell because this is pride? 40:13 My husband doesn’t want to attend church and it has become a challenge to attend. I feel torn between attending and not. Does God see this as choosing my husband over Him? 42:39 Hi Pastor Guzik, I use your commentaries a lot in my own teaching research. I am now in Isaiah 66 and I noticed that you didn't make any real comment on vs 17 which is in fact a verse of controversy. Jewish believers and also especially Adventists use it to insist that the Kosher laws are still to be kept by all believers. Would love to have your own comments on it. I am seeing it as more of a symbolic reference to the main issue of the idolatry mentioned in the previous verses. 46:46 Where to we see that David was "in spiritual decline" in 2 Samuel 2? 49:22 Pastor: Positionally , I believe that God saved me before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:3-14. Your thoughts? 51:51 How do you worship in the spirit, is that like spiritual gifts? 52:45 What’s your opinion on secular artists performing Gospel music. I love the Gospel music of Elvis, Bob Dylan, Whitney Houston, etc. I’ve heard some pastors say that this music shouldn’t be listened to. Thank you. Blessings. 53:35 Pres Trump keeps speaking of peace he will bring. Can 1 Thess 5:1-3 relate to this? 55:50 As a Christian can I call the holy spirit my father since we believe that the holy spirit is also God? 56:51 Could Calvinists view of scripture be a misunderstanding of space/time and God's relationship to His creation? 58:20 Good day sir, Are all priests spiritually equipped to guide, What can we take from Mark 9:28-29 about this? 59:21 Is it possible Jesus wants us to pray “The Lord’s Prayer”? #biblestudy #christianity #jesus #bible #christian
