Chasing After the Wind

Human wisdom, pursued apart from the fear of God, cannot provide lasting meaning because it exposes life's futility without providing its ultimate solution.

So, What's New?

Because life "under the sun" moves in repetitive cycles while people quickly pass away and are forgotten, Solomon demonstrates the futility of seeking lasting significance apart from God.

Must Your Life be Futile?

Everyone searches for significance. We pursue careers, possessions, achievements, relationships, and experiences, hoping they will satisfy us. Yet many eventually ask the same question the Teacher asks in Ecclesiastes: "Is this all there is?" Ecclesiastes opens by confronting life's apparent emptiness apart from God. Rather than promoting despair, it exposes the futility of looking for ultimate meaning in temporary things.
