Welcome to the weekly Q&A with Pastor David Guzik, author of the Enduring Word Bible commentary. Normally performed LIVE, this week's show is pre-recorded! Normally, after our lead question, Pastor David takes questions via the live chat, but this week, all questions will be saved for the next live broadcasts. Simply add your questions to the chat, and our moderator will save them for future use in Pastor David's upcoming live stream! This week, Pastor David's lead question comes from a viewer who asks: "Many so-called “progressive Christians” like to suggest (or outright claim) that the story of David & Jonathan indicates a romantic love - is this a perverse twisting of scripture? How do we know that they are wrong to suggest this?" They say things like, 'My father was baptized, so he was saved,' or 'I’m sure my parents will find Christ somehow after death, and I’ll see them in heaven,' or 'They were good people, so God will consider that.' My heart aches hearing this, but I don’t think these are Biblically correct. How should I comfort them?" Struggling to wrap my head around the righteousness of Lot! So, I was wondering if Lot was considered righteous because of Abraham’s intercession & faith (the same way we are righteous because of Jesus), or was he indeed living righteously? Since gluttony is a sin, shouldn’t it be addressed like alcoholism or drug addiction? I have some Christian friends, obese, poor health, + a lot of junk food. Isn’t this a problem? Does God only discipline His children who are proud of their sin or unrepentant like David was or does he discipline us every-time we sin? Have you ever known that God was disciplining you? My question relates to 2 Corinthians 4:6 - In a nutshell, without this shining of the light in a person’s heart, they cannot be saved. Is that a correct theological belief? Was the witch of Endor really able to conjure up Samuel, or was it demonic (meaning trickery/illusion), or both? Because God is outside of time as the Creator of it, do we all arrive at heaven at the same time? When we die, is it Christian to be cremated or not ? Does the Bible say anything about it? I see a contradiction between Genesis 10:5 and 11:1. This is in regard to the whole world speaking in only one language before Babel, however in 10:5 it states that the gentiles had different languages? How should we regard the works (sermons, books, etc.) of pastors and ministers that have had a public fall from grace? Does their moral failure taint their work? Regarding a project our church board was considering, an Elder in our church concealed benefits & exaggerated negatives to the church board, because his committee didn't want to proceed with a project which could save the church about $3+ million, but came with a 2yr wait. What do you advise regarding how to deal with this situation or this elder? in Job 9:8, is this about Jesus treading upon the mighty waves of the sea (like Mark 6v48)? And can this be used to help show/teach the trinity? 50:11 Do you have a book or a few books that you recommend to those who are called to be missionaries? Books on missionaries etc. I like to worship God with words instead of songs. While worship songs are wonderful, I feel more connected through spoken words. Am I doing something wrong? In Numbers 20, why did Aaron die before Moses? When Moses was the one who made the mistake of disobeying the Lord directly? Once he became an adult, why didn’t Joseph leave Egypt & go to his father? Was Jesus still living in Bethlehem when the wise men came? Were the gifts brought by the wise men actual gold frankincense and myrrh? Why don't some churches place any importance on events in the church year like epiphany, advent, lent, the different events of Holy week? Will the Feast Days of the Lord, such as the Feast of Tabernacles, be observed during the Millennial Kingdom? Thank you. Did John the Baptist have a permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit, similar to what the Christians received later after Pentecost? #biblestudy #christianity #jesus #bible #christian #pastor
