In a time of deep spiritual darkness under King Ahab and Jezebel, God raises up Elijah to confront Baal worship and declare a drought. Elijah is sent into hiding, where God miraculously feeds him through ravens, teaching him daily dependence. Later, God sends him to a starving widow in pagan territory, where her obedience leads to daily provision of flour and oil. When her son dies, Elijah prays earnestly, and God raises the boy back to life—the first recorded resurrection in Scripture. This chapter reveals that God's provision, power, and preparation often come through humbling and surprising means to deepen our faith for future service.
