God Welcomes Both Tears and Trust

In his sermon on Psalms 140–143, Stephen Davey explains how David models honest prayer when facing enemies, inner turmoil, isolation, and despair. David brings both tears and trust to the Lord—crying out against violent opposition, welcoming godly correction, and admitting his weakness without hiding his complaints. Davey highlights David’s confidence that God will “fashion” the final outcome for His glory, even when circumstances feel overwhelming. Each psalm moves from fear and discouragement toward renewed trust, as David shifts his focus from what he wants to what God wants to accomplish. Davey concludes that God welcomes raw honesty anchored in faith and promises to use suffering to deepen trust and display His glory.
