From Zechariah 8:1-8, in his ongoing study of the Book of Zechariah (זְכַרְיָה), Brother Gideon Levytam points us to the encouraging words the Lord spoke to the returning Jewish remnant. Following the people’s questions regarding their traditional days of fasting and mourning, God redirects their focus to His prophetic promises for the future. He declares His great jealousy and fervent love for Zion, promising to return and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, which shall be called the "City of Truth" (Ir Emet). Gideon highlights that this beautiful vision of peace and security points directly to the future Messianic Kingdom. While the modern world sees a land burdened by conflict, a day is coming when Yeshua the Messiah will reign as King of Kings. In that day, the elderly will dwell safely in Jerusalem’s streets, children will play without fear, and the Lord will gather His scattered people from the east and the west, restoring Israel in truth and righteousness to be His people.
