Continuing his study of the Book of Romans (אֶל־הָרוֹמִיִּים), Brother Gideon Levytam explores Sha'ul’s (Paul's) defense of God’s sovereign choices regarding His earthly people, Israel. Addressing the question of whether there is unrighteousness with God in election, the apostle emphatically declares, "God forbid!" (חָלִילָה - chalilah). Gideon unpacks the profound biblical truth that God is absolutely just and possesses the supreme right to dispense His mercy and compassion according to His own sovereign will, entirely apart from human effort or merit. To illustrate this divine prerogative, Paul draws upon the Hebrew Scriptures, contrasting God's mercy toward Moses with His righteous judgment upon Pharaoh. Gideon points us to the powerful imagery of the Potter and the clay, emphasizing that the Creator has absolute authority over His creation. As Paul continues to unfold God's sovereign purposes, we learn that salvation is entirely the result of God's grace and mercy. Through Messiah Yeshua, the Lord continues to call a remnant of both Jewish and Gentile believers according to His divine purpose and plan.
