Have you ever tried to avoid something you knew you were supposed to do? If so, you’re not alone. Jonah did the same thing. God told Jonah to go to Nineveh to deliver a message, but Jonah decided to go the opposite direction. He got on a boat and tried to run away from God. Which is kind of funny when you think about it. Jonah was basically saying, “I’m going to hide from the Creator of the ocean… on the ocean.” But God didn’t give up on him. He sent a storm. He sent a fish. And He gave Jonah another chance. Maybe the story of Jonah reminds us that God knows our stubborn moments, our mistakes, and the times we try to avoid Him. And He still loves us. God has a sense of humor, but more than that, He has incredible patience.
