To be a priest in Israel during the time of Moses was no joke! It was a serious calling and rules and regulations galore! God is Holy and the priests must reflect that in their conduct around of the tabernacle and in their personal lives. This sounds much like what you read in the New Testament in 1 Timothy 3 or Titus 2 regarding Elders/Overseers of a Church.
