“Born to non-Christian parents in Zambia, Africa, Michele grew up in the neighboring country of Zimbabwe where she met her husband-to-be, Colin; and the couple were married. During their first year of marriage, Michele and Colin relocated to Botswana, another nation in southern Africa. It was there—after living a life far from God—that they both became totally committed followers of Jesus. During their 16 years in Botswana, the Telfers frequently went on safari, often traveling by themselves through vast tracts of wilderness. Michele first began teaching the Bible in Botswana, with invitations to teach coming one after the other, often in unusual ways. She and Colin moved to the U.S. in 1999 and subsequently became U.S. citizens. The Lord opened up many opportunities in their new homeland; and within a few years, Michele was teaching multiple groups of enthusiastic students of the Word in Southern California. God has opened the doors for Michele to speak around the globe in places across Africa, Australia, Canada, the U.K., and other parts of the U.S. She continues to present weekly Bible classes online and in person, speaking to groups across America and around the world as she leads conferences and retreats. She has authored numerous books and study guides and has a very large radio ministry across Africa and the Middle East, where her Bible classes are broadcast weekly. Michele’s ministry also leads mission trips to Africa and tours of Israel. God has gifted Michele with the ability to make sense of even the difficult parts of God’s Word. She is a captivating storyteller who relates her wide variety of experiences to communicate deep spiritual truths. All of us face hardships and disappointments in life, and Michele has experienced many of them: a years-long struggle with infertility before becoming a mother to her two children; a battle with cancer; two near-death experiences; and the loss of her beloved husband after 35 years of marriage. Michele also knows what it is to move her home and start over again in an unfamiliar place. Through it all she has learned of God’s love, mercy, and amazing kindness; and she is convinced that God uses these difficulties to draw us closer to Him and enable us to serve Him more faithfully.”
