God's Word Is Spreading in Ecuador
Christian evangelism traditionally has not been easy in Ecuador. Remember Operation Auca in the mid 1950s? That's when missionaries Jim Elliot, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, Roger Youderian, and Nate Saint were speared to death by a group of Aucas (now called Waoranis) along the Curaray River. But according to career missionary Linda Freeman of C.A.S.A. Christian Ministries in Cuenca, carrying out the Great Commission in Ecuador is much different than it was in past decades. "There is much more optimism" these days, and the people are "much more receptive" to the Gospel. Why? "God's Word is spreading!"
