On today's Footsteps, TWR's Felix Widmer points out that "Jesus said to His disciples, 'Go,' and most churches and pastors...say 'Come.'"  I must admit that Felix's comments have made me think about these two words--"Go" and "Come."  It's true that in the Great Commission Jesus commands us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:19, ESV).  But, in another passage, Jesus says "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden..." (Matthew 11:28, ESV).  So, which is it?  Do we "go," or do we invite people to "come?"  I'm leaning toward Felix's point of view on this one.  When Jesus uses the word "come," He's inviting people to come to Him.  And how do non-belivers come to Jesus?

"How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?  How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?  And how will they hear without a preacher?  How will they preach unless they are sent?  Just as it is written, 'HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS.'" (Romans 10:14-15, NASB)

In this passage, both of the words "sent" and "bring" seem to line up pretty well with "going" or taking the Gospel message to the people.  First, we "go" to the lost, and then we invite them to "come" to Jesus.  Thanks Felix for this reminder to "Go."
