Having lived my entire life in the southeastern part of the United States, I'm much more familiar with Atlantic hurricanes than I am Pacific typhoons.  In essence, hurricanes and typhoons are the same.  They are both tropical cyclones.  However, because of the warm waters of the Northwest Pacific, and because of the lack of land masses, typhoons occur more frequently than hurricanes and are often very powerful!

On today's Footsteps, TWR missionary Doug Gregson reminds us that Trans World Radio's broadcasting facility on Guam is located in Typhoon Alley.  So, from now on, when you hear about a typhoon in the Pacific, please pray for the TWR staff on Guam.  Thanks!
