On today's Footsteps, we feature a story told by the late Stephen Boakye-Yiadom, TWR's former International Director for Africa.  When he visited a particular village in Africa, he noticed a drastic change in the people.  According to Stephen, "You see some of the Voodoo priests even holding their Bibles going from village to village evangelizing their own people because the Lord Jesus Christ has transformed their lives."  Should we be surprised when former Voodoo priests are now preaching the Word of God?  Absolutely not.  Do you remember in the book of Acts a man by the name of Saul who was persecuting Christians?

"But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.  Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him.  And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?'  And he said, 'Who are you, Lord?'  And he said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.  But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.'”  (Acts 9:1-6, ESV)

Likely you already know the rest of the story.  Saul did what Jesus told him to do, became the apostle Paul, and wrote the majority of the rest of the New Testament.  So, if God can convert Saul, I know He can totally transform some African Voodoo priests as well.
