Celebrating Monte Carlo
Exactly 60 years ago today, October 16, 1960, TWR began broadcasting from Monte Carlo, Monaco. TWR President Lauren Libby joins us on today's Footsteps to celebrate.
The use of that 100,000-watt shortwave signal is truly a story of redemption. You see, during World War II, Adolf Hitler gave the orders to build a huge radio transmitter to broadcast Nazi propaganda throughout Europe. The facility was not completed before the end of the war, so it did not fulfill Hitler's original purpose. However, fifteen years later, TWR began using that very facility to broadcast the Good News of Jesus to millions of people! This story reminds me of Joseph's response to his brothers: "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result ..." For us, we can say that what Hitler meant for evil, God meant for good. May our sovereign God be praised!
