"Steve" and "Hope" are missionaries to North Africa.  According to Steve, centuries ago, the Domari Gypsies "fell in through all the cracks, and they just kind of found themselves at the bottom." Hope points out that some countries don't even "recognize them as people!"

In Jesus' day, the Jews had a very negative opinion of Samaritans.  In fact, when Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well and asked her for a drink of water, the woman was surprised.  “'How is it that You, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?' she asked Him.  For Jews do not associate with Samaritans" (John 4:9, HCSB).

Jesus was willing to associate with this Samaritan woman.  Steve and Hope, right now, are associating with the Domari in North Africa and ministering to them.  As a Christian, I must ask myself, "Am I willing to associate with the poor, the outcast, the lowest of the low?"  Maybe you need to ask that question of yourself as well.
