The apostle Paul had a very impressive Jewish pedigree and religious resume.  In Philippians chapter 3, Paul points out that he was "circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless" (Philippians 3:5-6, ESV).  To refer to himself as a "Hebrew of Hebrews" and "blameless" sure sounds boastful, but Paul wasn't bragging.  In fact, after coming to know Christ as his Savior, Paul came to view his background in a different light.  Let's look at the next few verses:

"But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith--that I may know him ..." (Philippians 3:7-10a, ESV)

What a transformation!  While Paul's past was impressive, he viewed it as "rubbish" compared to his present relationship with Jesus.  TWR's Susie Pek agrees.  Susie serves as the Global Director for TWR Women of Hope, and she tells her salvation story on today's Footsteps.  Make sure that you listen to this episode through the very end, and take note of how Susie views Jesus.  She calls him, "my everything."  That sounds a lot like Paul to me!
