In our fallen world, men have created countless false gods.  Some men have carved visible idols out of wood and stone, and man-made religions have created invisible gods to whom they bow, pray, and serve.  And let's not forget the fact that many people have made gods of themselves.  Their motto is, "It's all about me!"  

For the truth on this subject, we must turn to God's Word.  The apostle Paul teaches us in his first letter to the Corinthians:

"For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." (1 Corinthians 8:5-6, NIV)
