A Plane Crash
As believers, we sometimes falsely believe that if we follow Christ, we will never face hardship. In fact, there is even an erroneous teaching that claims that God always wants us to be healthy and wealthy. But remember what Jesus told his disciples, "In this world you will have trouble" (John 16:33, NIV). Also, think about some of the trouble the apostle Paul faced:
"Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers" (2 Corinthians 11:24-26, NIV).
So, if Paul experienced dangers like shiprecks, we shouldn't be surprised in our day when missionaries experience disasters--like a plane crash. That's the case on today's Footsteps with Dan Hatfield of Nations One For Christ. Give it a listen.
