Mel Code serves with DayStar Native Outreach in Ontario Canada, and in today's Footsteps, Mel talks about the challenge of syncretism--the mixing of Christianity with traditional beliefs.  Syncretism is not new to Christianity.  In 2 KIngs 17:7-8 (ESV), we read, "the people of Israel sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, and walked in the customs of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel."  So, the question for us today...are we "walking in the customs" of the world around us?  And, have we wrongly incorporated any of these "customs" into our Christian faith.  It's worth a self-examination.
