The Church in Uruguay
I enjoy a good meal and good conversation. On a recent trip to Bonaire, I sat across the table from Esteban Larrosa of RTM-Uruguay (TWR's national partner in Uruguay). Esteban gave me a history lesson on his home country. I was fascinated to learn that one unique attribute of Uruguay is that it basically has no indigenous people groups; today's Uruguayans are primarily of European decent. Then, Esteban started talking about the percentage of evangelicals in Uruguay—“maybe 2 or 3 percent” of the people in Uruguay are members of evangelical churches. So, why do some mission agencies maintain that South America has been reached with the Gospel? It seems to me that there is still plenty of work to be done!
