Markus Mueller of ERF (TWR's national partner in Germany) makes this statement in today's Footsteps: "As He (Jesus) has hope for me, I know there is hope for everyone."  I think the Apostle Paul operated out of the same motivation.  Do you remember what Paul wrote to Timothy?  "This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: 'Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners'—and I am the worst of them" (1 Timothy 1:15, HCSB).  Therefore, if Jesus can save sinners like Markus, Paul, and even me, then I know that He can save anyone.
