A Visionary Name
In early 1954, the Voice of Tangier began broadcasting the Gospel into Spain from Tangier, Morocco. But in 1959, when the Moroccan government nationalized all radio stations, the Voice of Tangier was shut down. However, within the year, an opportunity opened to begin broadcasting from Monte Carlo, and a new name was given to the ministry--Trans World Radio. As today's Footsteps guest, TWR's Skip Britton points out, "that was a visionary name because at that time, we were only reaching Europe." Now, TWR is sharing the Good News of Jesus in 230 languages to people in over 190 countries. I agree with Skip. We truly have become TRANS WORLD radio!
