"God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are wise" wrote Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:27b (NASB).  David Brainerd is an example of a "weak thing" that God used in a mighty way.  He began his missionary service to Native-Americans in the northeast in 1742.  Over the next 5 years, while ministering to the Housatonic and Delaware Indians, David Brainerd battled deep bouts of depression and incurable consumption (tuberculosis).  He died at the young age of 29.  Not only did God use him during his short life, but through his diary which was edited and published by his friend Jonathan Edwards, many ministers and missionaries such as William Carey, David Livingstone, Andrew Murray, and Jim Elliot were greatly influenced by his daily journal entries.  Through the years, God has chosen to use many other "weak" men and women for His glory.  A current example is a blind man in Cuba.  TWR's Alberto Gonzalez shares his inspiring story in today's Footsteps.
