While serving on Guam, TWR missionaries Sterling and Gwen Ottun led a youth group at their church.  In today's Footsteps, Sterling talks about two youth sub-groups they formed called "Salt" and "Light."  The purpose is to disciple the teenagers so that they are able to go into the world and make more disciples.  The Ottun's approach sounds a lot like the one that is encouraged in the IVP New Testament Commentary Series: "Christians cannot be content to remain the world's light in a merely theoretical sense; they must 'be what they are,' letting their light shine for their Father's honor.  Ministers of the Word must equip all other Christians for their ministry as lights in their various neighborhoods and occupations."(1)  So, for those of us who are believers in Jesus, may we all naturally and intentionally live as salt and light in this world.
