Jabota Bridge
Cindy Finley serves as the Global Ministry Director for TWR's RiverCross--a ministry that uses audio drama to minister to orphans and vulnerable children around the world. According to the RiverCross website, "We believe that the world's vulnerable children need a bridge to hope. Their hearts have been broken by the trauma they have experienced." One of the "bridges" that TWR's RiverCross is using is a dramatic series of stories called Jabota Bridge. You can learn more about this series when you click on the link below, but let's take a quick trek to the fictional village where the story takes place. In the language of this village, the word "Jabota" means beautiful. That's Biblically significant! Imagine an African child whose spirit has been crushed by the death of her parents. She's been both sexually and physically abused by an uncle. That brokenhearted young girl needs to hear the life-changing Good News of our loving Lord. Look specifically that this description of the coming Messiah in Isaiah:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:1-3, NKJV)
May the Lord Jesus use Jabota Bridge to carry out this promise in the lives of these vulnerable children.
