A-1 - Encouraged by What You Read?

"I was a 2.6% annual giver...I was doing the national average in the United States," says Chuck Bentley (CEO of Crown Financial Ministries) on today's Footsteps.  Let that figure sink in for a minute...2.6%!  As Christians, shouldn't our starting point be 10%?  I can already hear some of the objections like, "Andy, tithing is not mentioned in the New Testament."  So, are you saying that New Testament believers should set the bar lower than the Children of God in the Old Testament?  That we should not give regularly and purposefully?  That really, we're not required to give anything at all?  Is that what you're really trying to say?

I challenge you to examine your heart and to increase your giving to the Lord's work.  Why not start with 10%?  If you're already at that level or above, look for God to open other doors for you to give even more.  See how God will change your heart, and at the same time, how He will continue to meet your needs!
