The Power of Forgiveness
On today's Footsteps, Abdoulaye Sangho, TWR's International Director for West and Central Africa, tells a listener story that involves forgiveness. Forgiveness is vitally important in the life of a believer. Not only does our relationship with God and our eternal salvation depend on God's forgiveness of our sin through the atoning sacrifice of His Son Jesus, but as maturing Christians, we must learn to extend forgiveness to others. Listen to Jesus' instruction in what we refer to as "The Lord's Prayer:"
"In this manner, therefore, pray:
"Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:9-15, NKJV)
