Contemplating the Life of Jesus
We read in Philippians 2:6-8 (ESV) that Jesus, "who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." While it's difficult for us to fully comprehend everything that is involved in the phrase "made himself nothing" (ESV), "made himself of no reputation" (NKJV), or "emptied Himself" (NASB and HCSB), I at least have a better understanding of Jesus' humanity since taking a trip to Israel back in 2010. That's why I encourage you to consider joining TWR and Dr. Doug Bookman of Shepherd's Theological Seminary on "Expedition Israel," May 28-June 9. You'll have the opportunity to literally walk where Jesus walked!
