In today's edition of Footsteps, Mel Code of DayStar Native Outreach talks about a photo of an old gate that stood on the road at the entrance of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve in Onatario, Canada.  An Indian agent would man the gate and control who left or entered the reserve.  Mel describes Wikwemikong in the old days as a "prison."  That image of the old, rusty gate at Wikwemikong turned my thoughts to another gate – a different kind of gate – Jesus.  In John 10:7-9 (NIV), Jesus says, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.  They will come in and go out, and find pasture."  What a contrast between these two gates!  The Wikwemikong gate would stay shut.  Jesus' gate stands wide open.  The Wikwemikong gate was used to imprison a particular group of people.  Jesus' gate offers entry and eternal life to people of every tribe, tongue and nation.  And while the indian agent at the Wikwemikong gate was not trusted by the native people, Jesus is completely trustworthy.  If you don't have a relationship with Jesus, I pray that as Jesus invites you through His gate, that you would forsake all, run to Him, follow Him, and love Him – as your Savior – for now and throughout eternity.
