Scottish author and poet George MacDonald said "“Few delights can equal the mere presence of one whom we trust utterly.” In MacDonald's view, trust not only brings peace and safety, but delight and joy as well.  Now, let's move into the arena of ministry--particularly ministry to Native Americans (U.S.) or First Nations (Canada).  The list of reasons why these indigenous people mistrust the white man is far too long to mention, and there is no doubt that a lack of trust remains to this day!  So, how can Christian ministries who are trying to reach these native people regain this trust.  According to Mel Code of DayStar Native Outreach in Ontario, Canada, it could take "decades" of walking side by side before trust is rebuilt.  For now then, let us pray for the day when trust is restored and the relationship between the white man and the North American Indian will be filled with love, joy, peace, and delight.
