In John 3:8 (ESV), Jesus likens the Holy Spirit to the wind:

"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.  So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

For those of us who have been "born again" (John 3:3,7), our lives are now empowered and controlled by the Holy Spirit.  On today's Footsteps, missionary James Peavy tells the story of how God sovereignly called his family to service in the Dominican Republic.  Similar to a sailing ship, James reflects, "We just yielded to the wind."  What a great illustration!  May we all unfurl our sails and catch the guiding wind of the Holy Spirit.
