Stutterer
When God spoke to Moses from the burning bush and called him to lead the Children of Israel out of Egypt, Moses gave one excuse after another as to why he was not the best man for the job. One of Moses' last objections concerned his speech:
"But Moses said to the LORD, 'Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.' Then the LORD said to him, 'Who has made man's mouth? Who make him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.'" (Exodus 4:10-12, ESV)
I was reminded of that passage in Exodus when longtime TWR missionary Alex Turoczi was sharing God's call on his life. Alex is now with the Lord, but a couple of years before his death, I interviewed Alex about his 42 years with TWR. On today's episode of Footsteps, Alex mentions a surprising bit of information about his life--"God took my situation, having been a stutterer when I was a teenager, to the fact that God opened doors for me in ... preaching ... and in being on the radio live." Wow!
So, if God can use slow-of-speech Moses and stutterer Alex as His ambassadors, God certainly can use you and me as well.
