Our Sovereign God used the preaching of men like George Whitefield, John Wesley, and Jonathan Edwards to bring about the First Great Awakening in the 1730s and 1740s in both Great Britain and the American colonies.  Then, from about 1790 up through the early to mid 1800s, a Second Great Awakening swept across the American Frontier as well as across the ocean in England, Scotland, and Wales.
