Ukraine or The Ukraine
Coming from the greater Chattanooga, Tennessee area where we have towns like Chickamauga (GA), Oostanaula (GA), Ooltewah (TN), and Etowah (TN), I'm usually pretty conscious of the way locals pronounce the names of their communities. So, when TWR-Ukraine's Olesya Vasylenko said "Ukraine" rather than "The Ukraine," and when she said she pronounced the capital city as KAY-you instead of KEY-ev, I paid close attention. If you haven't listened already, I encourage you to listen to today's Footsteps to learn whey Olesya uses different pronunciations that those we are accustomed to hearing.
