The final scene in the life of Joseph shows God's people safe and provided for in a place prepared for them, blessed and directed into their future - and receiving forgiveness. Jesus Christ does the same for His people today.
Ready to receive God's people into the place they will be provided for, Joseph prepares a place for his reconciled and restored family. Wonderfully, Jesus Christ does the same for His people.
God's unusual work through Joseph did the job of changing the hearts of the brothers who sold him into slavery decades before. Jesus does a great work to change the heart His people.
God guided Joseph to a process that rebuild the broken relationship between Joseph and his brothers. This is a picture of rebuilding relationships in our life, especially how Jesus restored us to relationship with Him.
When Jacob heard the report of Benjamin's loss and the problems in Egypt, he believed everything was against him, when just the opposite was really true.
Led by the Lord, Joseph tested his brothers to see what was in their heart and if they had changed. He also blessed them unexpectedly an undeservedly. This speaks to us of more than Joseph; it speaks to us of what Jesus did and does for us.
Joseph finally has a dramatic meeting with the brothers who sold him into slavery. The brothers sense their guilt, and Joseph's position over them reminds us of Jesus with His people.
In a divine and dramatic way, God lifted the faithful servant Joseph from the lowest pit to the highest pinnacle. This was all part of God's unfolding plan, and reminds us of the humility and exaltation of Jesus Christ.
When Pharaoh had a dream and Joseph interpreted the dream, it was a message from God, a word to either believe and act upon or to reject. Pharaoh received God's word to him; we should receive Jesus, God the Word to us.
This week’s Q&A was live from Montreal! I dealt with questions about Elihu from the book of Job, ordination, apostolic succession, the blood of Jesus, does the Old Testament teach there is one way to heaven, books on miracles, is my business a ministry, and more.
Psalm 136 is a special psalm, with each one of its 26 verses repeating the sentence, His mercy endures forever. Throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, the phrase has somewhat of a liturgical sense to it, as if the assembled people of Israel said or sung this in response to the direction of the Levites leading singing and worship. We picture a great multitude of the people of God gathered in the temple courts. A priest or Levite would call out a reason to give God thanks, and His people would respond with, “For His mercy endures forever.”
Consider how great the mercy of God is, as it is expressed in the person and work of Jesus Christ throughout this wonderful psalm!
Psalm 100 is a psalm of thanksgiving, and it speaks of an invitation to the whole earth to know and to worship God.
