A Parade of Royal Heirs

History is full of powerful leaders—and painful lessons. In this episode, Stephen Davey walks you through 120 years of Judah’s monarchy, from the murderous reign of Queen Athaliah to the wicked legacy of King Ahaz. Along the way, you’ll meet kings who started well but ended in ruin, and others who rose out of spiritual darkness to follow the Lord. Each chapter teaches a lesson: God’s promises stand, sin has consequences, and faithful obedience still matters. Whether you’re a parent, a leader, or a follower of Christ seeking to stay the course, this sweeping history of Judah’s royal heirs will help you see how your life today can echo through the generations.

Judgment Comes Through Jehu

God always keeps His Word. That includes His promises—and His warnings. In this episode, Stephen Davey unpacks the dramatic story of Jehu, a military commander anointed by God to bring judgment on the wicked house of Ahab. You’ll watch prophecy unfold in vivid detail as kings fall, Jezebel meets her foretold end, and the worship of Baal is violently eradicated from Israel. But while Jehu carries out God’s command with zeal, he stops short of full obedience. His story is a powerful reminder that it’s not enough to oppose evil—you must also pursue what is right. Whether you’re waiting on God’s promises or wrestling with the consequences of sin, this lesson offers timely wisdom from the unchanging Word of God.

History is His-story

Is God really in control of history—even when things go terribly wrong? In this episode, Stephen Davey takes you through three dramatic scenes from 2 Kings 8 and 2 Chronicles 21: the restoration of a faithful widow’s land, the rise of a ruthless Syrian king, and the fall of a corrupt dynasty in Judah. These events might seem unrelated, but each one reveals the guiding hand of God behind the scenes. You’ll see how divine providence protects the humble, confronts the wicked, and orchestrates the future. Whether you’re facing uncertain circumstances or wrestling with the state of the world, this lesson offers hope: history is not out of control—it’s His-story.

Trusting God in Desperate Times

What does it look like to trust God when life feels desperate? In this message from 2 Kings 6–7, Stephen Davey walks through some of the most dramatic and surprising events in Elisha’s ministry. From a floating axe head to an invisible army to the deliverance of a starving city, you’ll see God’s power on display in both personal struggles and national crises. You’ll meet a servant whose eyes are opened to spiritual reality, a prophet who stays calm under siege, and four lepers who become messengers of salvation. And you’ll discover that God never stops working—even when all seems lost. Whether you’re dealing with small frustrations or overwhelming fear, this episode will remind you: God sees you, He knows your need, and His mercy is never out of reach.

Healing Leprosy for Free

What does an ancient military commander’s healing have to do with your life today? In this episode, Stephen Davey unpacks the powerful story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5. A mighty Syrian warrior, Naaman had wealth, power, and influence—but none of it could cure his leprosy. When a servant girl pointed him to the prophet Elisha, Naaman was faced with a shocking truth: God’s healing wouldn’t cost him a thing, but it would require his humility. Discover how Naaman’s story reveals the incredible, free gift of God’s grace and what it means for you today. If you’ve ever struggled to accept God’s mercy, this episode will show you why salvation isn’t earned—it’s received. Tune in and be reminded that God’s grace is free for all who come to Him in faith.

A Ministry of Miracles

This lesson highlights Elisha’s prophetic ministry, filled with miracles that reveal God’s power and mercy amid widespread idolatry and evil. In 2 Kings 3, Elisha miraculously provides water for allied armies and foretells their victory over Moab, exposing the desperation of pagan kings who even resort to child sacrifice. In 2 Kings 4, Elisha performs personal miracles: multiplying oil for a widow, raising a child from the dead, purifying poisoned stew, and feeding a hundred men. These acts point forward to Jesus Christ—the ultimate Prophet—whose compassion and divine power are foreshadowed in Elisha’s ministry.

When the Truth Hurts

This lesson highlights the downfall of King Ahaziah, who ignored God and turned to idols in his time of need. Despite repeated warnings and dramatic displays of God’s power through Elijah, he remained defiant and died unrepentant. Elijah’s prophetic ministry ends with his fiery departure to heaven, and Elisha faithfully takes up his mantle, demonstrating that God always raises new leaders to carry forward His work. The lesson calls believers to face painful truth, reject rebellion, and embrace God’s Word as the only reliable guide—even when it hurts.

Standing Strong … Staying Alert

This lesson explores the reign of King Jehoshaphat, a faithful leader who pursued God, reformed Judah, and led with integrity. He removed idols, taught God’s law, and prayed boldly in times of crisis. Yet, despite his devotion, he compromised by allying with King Ahab, nearly losing his life in the process. Rebuked by the prophet Jehu, Jehoshaphat responded with renewed reforms and led Judah in trusting God during a major military threat. His story is both a powerful encouragement and a sobering warning: even faithful believers must stay alert to the temptations of compromise and lean wholly on the Lord.

Defiance, Disaster, and Death

This lesson highlights the tragic downfall of King Ahab, who ignored godly counsel, rejected the prophet Micaiah’s warning, and pursued battle for his own agenda. Though warned of defeat, Ahab surrounded himself with false prophets who only told him what he wanted to hear. God used even a “random” arrow to fulfill His judgment against Ahab. In contrast, King Jehoshaphat, a godly leader, compromised by aligning with Ahab and later faced consequences. The account warns of the dangers of ignoring truth, resisting repentance, and compromising with ungodly influences. The call is to heed God’s Word, embrace truth, and believe the gospel before it’s too late.

The Day of Reckoning

This lesson highlights God’s patience and justice through the story of King Ahab. Despite Ahab's repeated rebellion, God graciously delivers him from enemies and gives him multiple chances to repent. But Ahab continues to ignore God’s guidance, culminating in the murder of Naboth to steal his vineyard—an act orchestrated by Queen Jezebel. God sends Elijah to declare judgment: Ahab's dynasty will be destroyed, and Jezebel will die a violent death. Although Ahab shows outward repentance, it is shallow and temporary. The lesson emphasizes that all leaders—and all people—are accountable to God. Delayed judgment is not a sign of divine neglect, and true repentance must be heartfelt and enduring.
