Poverty Of Perspective

Poverty of perspective. Knowing the insignificant. Focusing on the irrelevant. Poverty destroys. We see that tragedy in blighted communities. We’re seeing the destruction of spiritual poverty in our country. Many of us suffer from the poverty of perspective. And we don’t even know it!

Intercessory Prayer

Without question, our country is in need of intercessory prayer. We are instructed in I Timothy 2:1-3 to pray intercessory prayers and prayers of thanksgiving. At every level there may be those who have had some exposure to Scripture, God and Jesus.

Praying For Our Country

If you are discouraged about our country, as I am at times, let's look upward instead of around us.

Perspective

This country has given me opportunity perhaps beyond any other. So what do I do with that blessing?

Benaiah - Things Get Worse

Don’t you love a hero story? Benaiah killed a lion in a pit on a snowy day. Amazing! Benaiah means ‘built by Jehovah,’ hard wired from conception to meet that challenge. Did he fall in that pit which was dug to capture lions or did he jump in to prove a point?

Household Names

Bernard Madoff and Michael Jackson are now legacy household names. May I suggest that you add two more important names to your household conversations?

Widow And Her Pot Of Oil 2

God’s miracles are not for us alone. Others watch and are impacted. The widow and her pot of oil in II Kings 1:1-7 is an example.

Widow And Her Pot Of Oil 1

Scripture does not tell us the names of many whose stories were told as examples of generosity, faith, and courage. It’s enough that God knows. One such person is the widow and her pot of oil.

Mary - Mother of Jesus

What do we know about Mary’s days after Jesus death?

Family Of Friends

Spending time with my 3 sisters has me thinking about family and friends. Four little Southern Indiana farm girls swam in creeks, water moccasins peeking out from under rock ledges. We ate persimmons under the trees on the bluff.

Mary - Widow

Mary, the mother of Jesus was a widow. We don’t remember her as that, rightly so. She was the mother of Jesus. Blessed, probably poor, and widowed before Jesus adulthood.
