God can be known, but only in His way for His glory. Abraham, in his surrender to Christ by faith, embraced two principles at that time, one being the "tent," and the other the "altar." The tent spoke of detachment from the things of this earth, to be attached to Christ. The other, the altar, spoke of a sacrifice, one which would come and be displayed for all to see a great many years after Abraham. Faith in that Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, would allow Abraham to know this God of Redemption and Life.
