The man Gideon is mentioned in the Bible because he made a choice, a choice to believe and obey God, even though from a strictly human standpoint, it was hopeless. The key to Gideon's faith was his response to the revelation of Christ to his heart. God spoke to Gideon, and Gideon singularly, individually responded in obedience to God. God rewarded his faith with victory over his enemies.
