In this sermon on Revelation 18:1–24, Stephen Davey explains that Babylon represents humanity’s long-standing rebellion against God, beginning in the cradle of civilization and culminating in the final global system of political, economic, and spiritual defiance against the Creator. Tracing Babylon’s history from Nimrod and the Tower of Babel through Nebuchadnezzar and modern attempts to restore the city’s prominence, Davey emphasizes that Satan continually seeks to unite the world in opposition to God through false worship, materialism, pride, and moral corruption. Revelation reveals that despite Babylon’s immense wealth, influence, and apparent invincibility, God will suddenly and completely destroy it in judgment, leaving the world mourning the collapse of its power and prosperity. The message warns believers not to place their hope in the kingdoms and luxuries of this world, but in Jesus Christ, whose kingdom alone will endure forever and ultimately triumph over every human empire.
