Faith's Momentum
How does one gain momentum, that consistency in the Christian life where one knows daily what it means to be nourished on "daily bread," but also, to live by the power of God in Christ? It comes when the word of God is taken as it is, used well to appropriate Christ for every need. Living according to the promises of God gives wings to faith, ever growing in one's experience of Christ and His life.
Two Kings Two Visions
Two kings, one earthly and one heavenly. Which should command our faith and allegiance, and devotion? It is Christ, and Him alone, for in Him is all the fulness of God. Man is called upon by God to trust Him fully because He is holy, good, and worthy. In the revelation of the love of God, in the giving of His Son to save us all, is manifested the greatest demonstration of such love that has ever existed or ever will exist. The greatest motive for responding in faith to God is His love.
The God Of The Much More
How much does God give? Concerning man's existence on this earth, the issue is not the measure of God's giving, but the measure of man's ability, by the grace of God, to receive ALL from Him for every need. In Christ the believer has been made complete, nothing lacking. All is possible by Christ to the one who truly believes, and receives by faith.
The Blessed Counselor
Christ is declared to be in the book of Isaiah the Wonderful Counselor. This is because He is not only the ONLY One who can truly counsel mankind, and the individual seeker of God, but He in all of His dealings with us is wonderful. His knowledge and wisdom, with the love of God, are essential to navigate the constantly moving waters and storms of this world. The one who has made Him to be his Counselor is that one who will find security and His peace.
How Good Is The God We Adore
What is one of the greatest manifestations of the glory of God? When Moses asked to see the glory of God, God unveiled to Him "...all His goodness." The goodness of God fills all that He is and manifests itself in His gracious dealings with men. He is perfect goodness, unfailing, and ever seeking the lost to find, and the wayward to restore.
Four Spiritual Points Of Reference
A point of reference is a point, place, person, or thing which we can refer to when we need to regain our footing, find stability in the storms of life, but mainly find God to be just what He declares, "...a very present help in time of trouble." Spiritual points of reference are those very important truths which realign the believer with the Lord Jesus. It is then that clarity and strength come.
Be Ye Holy
When one speaks of the holiness of God, one is faced with the uniqueness of God, that He is One, and the only Redeemer by Christ. He is holy in that He is separate from all of His creation, as He is the Creator. He is also holy, in that He is singularly the only true object of faith, pure and good. Not only is He perfect in His holiness, but He is perfectly righteous and good, worthy of all man's trust.
The Reoccurring Resounding Commitment Of God
If there is one thing the Cross of Calvary teaches us, it is that God is totally committed to meet the fathomless, eternal needs of men, so that they may truly live, and not die. The call and purpose of God in Christ is to give life, hope, and certainty to the lost soul. His commitment to do so cannot be declared in a more blatant, forthright way, than the giving of His Son to die on the cross for man's sins.
The Prayer For The Holy Spirit
The greatest and most essential need of man, in particular sinful man, is for the intervention of God in his life. This is because of the incalculable need of man, and his total incapacity to truly meet that need. Only God can meet the profound needs of men. If there is one message given to us by the Gospel it is that God in Christ WILLS to meet that need, by the giving of Himself. The question is, "Who will truly, honestly call upon Him, asking Him in order to receive all from Him?
The Moving Of The Spirit
God alone can do the work of God in a heart. And this He will do by His Spirit, especially if there is a willingness on the part of the needy soul to hear the word of God, and to trust God according to it. God is faithful to move by His Spirit in answer to prayer and faith in the heart of the one who truly calls upon Him.
