No Greater Love
What is the measure of true love? Is the essence and measure of it found in man? When Christ came to walk this earth, He came as the revelation of the love of God, of the Father. His purpose in doing so was to win the hearts of men to trust Him fully. As one hymnwriter put it: "Grace alone can meet me and love alone can win."
Jesus The Lover Of My Soul
It is one thing that God should love the entire world. It is quite another when the individual comes to the realization that "Jesus loves me." Personal love by a personal God for a single person, and yet, it is a love for all individuals to know. How does one come to know this love? It is only by faith, a faith that God gives in answer to the cry of the heart.
The Greatest Sin
If sin is unbelief with regard to God and what He has revealed and declared, certainly the greatest sin, which puts mankind beyond the saving grace of God, is that sin of blasphemy against God, the deliberate and forever resolved rejection of every thought and consideration of God in Christ. God can save any man who will turn to Him, seek Him, even though he has sinned greatly. However, he cannot save the man who could come, but will not, refusing and rejecting everything of God and His mercy.
Specific Prayer For Specific Needs
There is no need that Christ is not able to meet in us today. And He will meet that specific need if we are willing to trust Him for it. The promise of God is that He will supply the answer to every need in answer to faith and prayer, with thanksgiving.
Delighting In God
Finding one's joy and satisfaction in God is a key part of loving and serving God. It is a timeless truth that when one rejoices in Christ, delights in Him, that there is given to the soul to know something of the joy of Christ. The more one knows Christ, not just knowing about Him, the more one desires to fix one's hope and joy in Him. To delight in Him is one of the great expressions of faith, in the faithful One.
Decrees, Letters, And The Word Of God
The decrees and letters of men can only have a limited effect upon the weakness and frailty of men. Their effect is dependent upon the power of men, which is limited and always will come to an end. This is not the case with the word of God, which endures forever, and is living by virtue of the Holy Spirit using God's great truths, commands, and promises, to communicate life and power to the needy.
According To The Power Of God
The extent of God's working in the life, to will and to do of His good pleasure, and to accomplish in the believer HIs purposes in the life, is always according to His power, for it is only BY His power that anything can be accomplished. This is why HE is worthy to receive the praise, blessing and honor, and also, why the believer is to persevere in his pursuit of God, who giveth all things good.
When God Speaks To Men
When God speaks to men it is different than when man speaks. Why? First of all, there is a Divine purpose when God speaks, for He does not waste words, but is clear, precise, and with great intent, speaks from the heart to the heart in power. The word of God which can move mountains can also heal the broken heart, and restore the soul. He is the Helper of the soul downtrodden by men, for when He speaks, He speaks in power to lift up, to carry, and to empower.
The Preface For Faith's Transforming Power
What precedes the experience of Christ's power by the Spirit in one's life? It is first the revelation of WHO God is, and what His will and purposes are. The experience of faith in the life is one which has its beginning in God, His presence, and promises. Therefore, it is of foremost importance to have a vision of Christ and be willing to do His will. Then we see Him as He is in a measure, and by faith can receive from Him His strength.
The Prayer Book
Why are there so many prayers in the Bible? Is it not to instruct mankind how to pray, and then to be sure of the will of God in prayer? There is another reason, and it has to do with that which is foremost in the Christian's calling. It is communion, or fellowship with God. By prayer one rises to the throne of God, even though one is alone in seeking God. It is there, in prayer, that one can know God.
