I remember as a little boy doing everything I could to block out the noise. Cover my ears. I would rock back and forth in my bed, trying to drown out the scariness. Maybe you’re a family who, at the first sound of thunder, your kids are in your bed scared out of their minds. I know there are a lot of adults like that. How can we help our kids deal with that kind of fear? First, explain to them the good things about thunderstorms. The rain waters the plants, fills the lakes and streams, and gives us water to drink. Lightning produces nitrogen in the air that helps the plants grow, too. Storms can be scary, but God’s in control and they’re part of His perfect plan.
