What do they actually believe?

As kids become teens, the big question shifts: “Do they believe this—or are they just following our example?” At this stage, they’re asking, “Is Jesus real to me?” Philippians 2:12 says, “Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” That’s a personal journey. So how do we help? Let them ask questions—hard ones. Don’t be afraid if they wrestle. That’s part of owning their faith. Share how God has worked in your life. Be honest. Ask how you can pray for them. Encourage service and Scripture reading that’s self-driven, not just routine. You can’t force faith. But you can foster an environment where it grows deep roots. And don’t stop praying. The most important conversation about faith is the one we keep having.
