Pessimism runs in my family.

Negativity is a cancer. In a family, complaining about every little thing can not only be negative, but depressing. If there’s anything that makes a home unhappy or pushes our kids away, it’s pessimism and negativity. Our family goes in spurts. Sometimes, our family is full of joy and laughter, and other nights (like the other night), I look around and think, “Why is my family so angry and negative?” The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. There’s nothing in there about gossip, anger, frustration, and other negativity. How do we avoid it? Stop negativity in its tracks. Then, lead by example. Find the positive in the worst situations. Even Paul says, “Give thanks in all circumstances.”
