Don’t just say the words—do them!

I’m in my fifties now. Some say that’s old, others say young. This week I lost a childhood friend. His name was Tim. He was my first school friend. I met him on the school bus on my way to kindergarten. Despite going to school, later to church, and playing on soccer, track, and basketball teams together, we lost track of each other when he moved from Michigan to Alabama after graduation. We did reconnect on Facebook, and we’d always say things like, “We need to get together.” Well, guess what? We never did. How is this a Parent Minute message? Remind your kids how important it is to make sure you do what you say you’re going to do. In my case, my “get-together” will have to wait until heaven.
