I trust my kids – I do, but…

I wasn’t the best kid. As a teen, I sowed my wild oats. I never abandoned my faith, I just did STUPID things. Sinful things. I regret it. As a young parent I would ask hard questions of my kids when they went out with friends because I wished my parents had done that with me. In my quest to be “on top of things”, I gave the impression that I didn’t trust my kids. While I DID, my actions said otherwise. My youngest asked me, “Why don’t you trust me? I’ve never given you any reason NOT to trust me. I’m not you and I’m NOT my siblings.” There may be reasons NOT to trust, but don’t create them. What’s the Bible say? Don’t provoke our kids to wrath.
