Your kids might come home talking about a game called Magic: The Gathering. It’s a strategy card game where players cast “spells” and summon “creatures.” While it’s make-believe, the Bible warns us to stay away from anything that glorifies witchcraft or the occult. Deuteronomy 18:10–12 reminds us that God detests sorcery and witchcraft. The danger isn’t in the cards themselves—it’s in how they can desensitize us to real spiritual darkness. Parents, use this as a teachable moment. Talk about where true power comes from—the Holy Spirit—not from so-called spells or spirits. Let’s encourage our kids to fill their hearts with what’s "pure, lovely, and praiseworthy" (Philippians 4:8). When we focus on God’s truth, even fantasy loses its pull.
Everyone’s playing it...really?
